Filament price is the base of every print cost. Typical retail ranges per 1 kg spool, and what they mean per gram:
PLA$20–30 per kg · $0.02–0.03 per gramThe default 3D printing material — and the cheapest per gram.
PETG$22–35 per kg · $0.022–0.035 per gramTougher and heat-resistant — for a small premium over PLA.
ABS$18–30 per kg · $0.018–0.03 per gramCheap per gram — but the enclosure and energy change the math.
